With 7 participations in the Olympic Games and 12 in World Championships, he has also been World Champion in Stuttgart 1993 in 50 km and has been 3 times World sub champion in 1997, 2001 and 2009.

1 – Why has you chosen the Zurich Marató de Barcelona to run a marathon for the first time?

Because it is the city where I live, moreover I will take part with a group of Olympic sportsmen with the purpose to face our first marathon, therefore the reason deserved it. This way, I will take part with the regatist Natalia Via-Dufresne, the ex-basket player Tomàs Jofresa and the ex-waterpolo player Dani Ballart.

2 – When and how did you decide to take part in this project, sharing the experience with other three big sportsmen?

At the beginning of October Catalunya Ràdio proposed it to me. “The challenge of ‘92” it seemed to me to be a fantastic proposal, marvelous and we are now begginingthe first weeks of training under the order of Carles Castillejo.

3 – The Zurich Marató de Barcelona is year after year a citizen’s party thanks to the involvement of many people who go out to the streets to encourage to the runners. What do you expect of the Zurich Marató de Barcelona 2018?

To enjoy a lot and to run in the main streets of Barcelona. To have the opportunity to run in Barcelona and to enjoy the fantastic festive atmosphere with runners from all over the world, will be a great experience.

4 – Do you have some concrete objective for the race?

No, but I would like to finish in about 3 hours. I don’t expect to make big records. I face the challenge of taking part in the Zurich Marató de Barcelona with the clear objective that the four Olympic athletes could finish the race.
