The Zurich Marató Barcelona 2024 gets 15,000 registrations two months ahead of the venue

For the next edition, Barcelona’s marathon has already the same number of bibs sold as the total of participants it had in 2023, with nine weeks to go until race day.

More than 15,000 runners have already registered to participate in the Zurich Marató Barcelona 2024 next 10th of March. When there are still nine weeks left for the celebration of the 45th edition of this race, Barcelona’s Marathon has already sold the same number of bibs as the total number of participants of 2023, being the best registration figure since 2019 and with the prospect of trying to reach the 18,000 registered runners. A number that has not been surpassed for more than five years, since the record of participants was achieved in 2016 with more than 20,000 runners.

As was the case last year, the organizers of the Zurich Marató Barcelona also estimate that more than half of the runners will be international. The novelty, the premiere of a new circuit, more central and faster, with a reduction of 30 meters of positive difference in height compared to the previous track, which goes through more than fifteen emblematic corners of Barcelona and which converts Barcelona’s race in one of the marathons with less curves in the world. Thus, this year, the Marathon will once again regain the high volume of participation that was common throughout the previous decade and before the pandemic.

Hotspots and Marathon Masters are still opened
Likewise, two of the new actions for 2024 of the Zurich Marató Barcelona are still open for registration. On the one hand, the Marathon Masters: a loyalty program which will recognize those who have participated in five, fifteen, fifteen or twenty editions of the Zurich Marató Barcelona since 2006, when the Marathon changed organizers and the circuit was established until 2023. Everyone who signs up for this initiative will be part of a Hall of Fame and will have more advantages than the rest of the participants.

On the other hand, there are the Hotspots, an initiative aimed at all entities, clubs, gangs, groups or groups that want to have visibility and participate in the Zurich Marató Barcelona‘s party. In this 2024 edition, the quantity and quality of the animation points of the new circuit will increase, making them more culturally diverse. Subsequently, through a survey and social networks, the best Hot Spot will be chosen and will be rewarded with a financial contribution.

Catalan Marathon Championship 2024
In addition, the 45th Zurich Marató Barcelona will also be the 46th Catalan Marathon Championship. The organisation and the Federació Catalana d’Atletisme have reached an agreement so that the multitudinous event that takes place in the Catalan capital will also be the Catalan Championship of the 42,195km distance in 2024.

This year, the Catalan Marathon Championship will once again take place within the framework of Barcelona’s Marathon after 15 years. The last time was on 1st of March in 2009, where Roger Roca and Anna Rosa won the gold medal in the Catalan Championship.
