The Zurich Marató de Barcelona posts a “sold out” sign with 32,000 registrations for 2026

The edition to be held next March 15 will be the most crowded in the event’s history, with all race bibs sold out three months before race day.
Following the Christmas holidays and with three months still to go before the race, scheduled for March 15, 2026, the organizers have announced that all available entries have been sold out. After surpassing the 30,000-registrant mark for the first time before the end of the year, the marathon kicks off 2026 by officially posting a “sold out” sign, with the 32,000 race bibs for this edition selling out in record time.
As a result, Barcelona will host the largest marathon in its history in 2026, clearly surpassing the more than 27,000 runners registered in the previous edition and setting a new all-time participation record. Until just one year ago, the historical participation ceiling stood at 20,000 runners, a figure reached in the 2016 and 2017 editions.
This sustained growth consolidates Barcelona as one of Europe’s leading sports destinations and firmly places the Zurich Barcelona Marathon among the five most popular marathons on the continent, alongside the major international events on the athletics calendar.
Organized by RPM Sports and the Barcelona City Council, the Zurich Barcelona Marathon now faces a historic edition that confirms the excellent momentum of mass participation running in the city and further strengthens the international positioning of both the event and the Barcelona brand, with a clear commitment to continued sustainable growth in the coming years.
This record adds to the sold-out announcement of the Hyundai Mitja Marató Barcelona by Brooks, which will take place on February 15 and sold out its 36,000 race bibs five months in advance.
